How to measure pants correctly before shortening
Five steps to determine the right hem length — come in with the right measurement.
- 01
Pick the right shoes
Put on the shoes you wear most often with these pants. Heel height changes the hem by two to three centimetres.
- 02
Stand upright
Stand straight on a firm floor, weight evenly on both legs. No arching, no tucked pelvis.
- 03
Wear the pants properly
The pants sit at the desired waistband position — not pulled up, not slipped down.
- 04
Mark the hem
Use pins or chalk to mark the desired hem edge — at mid-shoe or just above, depending on the cut.
- 05
Bring the shoes when you come in
We check the measurement again at the machine. Bring the shoes — we measure once more and shorten.
Original hem or standard hem?
For jeans you choose between a standard hem (cleanly turned and sewn) and an original hem (keeping the factory edge). Original hem takes more work — from €16. Standard hem from €12 (jeans), from €15 (dress pants, chinos).
How it works in the workshop
Six steps from walking in to picking up.
- 01
Walk in without an appointment
Measuring usually takes 15 minutes. Bring the shoes you will wear.
- 02
Fitting
You put the pants on, we pin the hem edge.
- 03
Note the order
Pickup date, hem type, price. A written note, not a scrap of paper.
- 04
Workshop time
One to three working days. For several pairs, please tell us ahead so we can plan the slot.
- 05
Fitting before handover
Before you take the pants home, put them on once more. On-the-spot corrections possible.
- 06
Pickup
Payment on pickup in cash or by debit card.
Prices and turnaround
Gross prices. Final price depending on fabric and complexity; waistband and crease adjustment may be added.

DIY or to the tailor?
For a single pair of pants the tailor is usually worth it: €12 for a clean hem edge on an industrial machine, ready in a few days. DIY makes sense only if you have a sewing machine, the right thread and practice. For dress pants with cuffs or original hem on jeans: always to the tailor.

Shortening jeans without losing the factory look
Jeans too long but too good to throw out? The challenge with denim is keeping the character — the original hem, the contrast topstitching, the faded edge. A workshop that knows denim shortens the leg and reattaches the original hem so the jeans look like they left the factory at your height.

Repair or replace a zip?
Is the slider stuck or are teeth missing? Sometimes a repair is enough, sometimes the whole zip has to come out. Replacement from €20 (trousers), €25 (dress/skirt), €30 (jacket/coat), usually in 1–3 working days. If it jams just before an event, a same-day fix is often possible.
